It was a warm Saturday morning when CLTV36 held its first ever medical mission on March 21, 2009, at the San Guillermo Parish Church in Bacolor, Pampanga. This was done in partnership with the University of Sto. Tomas Medical Missions, Inc. (UST-MMI), headed by Dr. William and Salve Olalia, hosts of the medical show, OK si Dok.
According to Dr. William Olalia, giving out free medicine and offering free consultations are part of the advocacy of their group. “We (UST-MMI) always go to every part of the country to do medical missions. We were invited by Fr. Jess Manabat to do it here in Bacolor, and we gladly
responded,” Dr. William Olalia, who hails from Bacolor, said.
The medical mission is a prelude to the forthcoming 2nd anniversary celebration of CLTV36. Ms. Diorella Laus, Project Head of the mission, expressed enthusiasm over the success of the activity.
“It was indeed a successful project. Over 400 residents benefited from this. This is a way for CLTV to give back to the people, especially to the loyal viewers of CLTV36's OK si Dok, ” Ms. Laus stated.
Various specialists from the UST-MMI, such as pediatricians and
ophthalmologists, participated in the medical mission. Meanwhile, CLTV36 employees
assisted the nurses and doctors, distributing toiletries and vitamin water to the beneficiaries.
CLTV36 will air more activities and special programs in its month-long 2nd anniversary celebration this coming May.
