FEMINIST-ACTIVIST SONIA SOTO TO HOST NEW CLTV36 SHOW FOR WOMEN

Sun.star Pampanga
Sonia P. Soto is best known in San Fernando, Pampanga as the first ever female City Administrator, and under her leadership, she was able to streamline the local government and transformed it to a pro-active bureaucracy responsive to the people's needs. She was even awarded the Most Outstanding Kapampangan Award in the Field of Youth Leadership in 1987. But before her stint in public governance, Sonia Soto was also an activist and is the co-founder of the League of Filipino Students and the current chair of Kaibabaihan para sa Inang Bayan (KAISAKA).
One of her main concerns has always been that women's issues are least prioritized and Ms. Soto found an opportunity to advocate women's rights when she was offered the position of Station Manager of CLTV 36, the regional TV station of Central Luzon based in the city of San Fernando, Pampanga.
She will be at the helm of a new women's program, titled WAGI or Women are Great Inspirations, to be aired Wednesdays, 8:30 to 9:30 PM on CLTV 36. WAGI is a women's advocacy program which seeks to empower women through inspirational stories of successful or "WAGI" women and discussions of important issues relevant to women.
The indefatigable Sonia Soto is the perfect host for the show as she herself embodies a truly WAGI woman—not only is she a feminist-activist, she is also a former City Administrator, the Station Manager of a young media company, and a mother.
In an interview at DWRW 95.1, Ms. Soto explained that the show WAGI is "a fitting tribute to women who go through trials everyday and win."
WAGI's pilot episode features Senator Pia "Compañera" Cayetano who talks about her own women's advocacy with her Pinay in Action run, which she holds yearly to coincide with Women's Day, life in the Senate and why sports are important to her. Ms. Sonia Soto also chats with Shaira Luna, former Promil kid and gifted child, who discusses her new love and talks about life after her infamous milk commercial.
